Based solely on my own experience, I have found ZAVELIO helmet-hats to be in a separate class when it comes to shearling winter headgear, in that specific price range. Over the years, my wife and I have bought 8 Zavelio hats in various colors to match our shearling coats and jackets and every single one of them were flawless, made with quality leather, perfect stitching line-up and perfect symetry. We also own shearling hats from two other manufacturers and the difference in quality is evident: all in all, on the basis of our real-life comparaison capability, Zavelio hats are better-made, with superior material and with better consistency in overall quality. Make sure to order one size over your own normal choice for more comfortable wear. Those hats are warm and are made of a thick layer of wool. You have to account for that size factor when ordering. All in all, a quality item you will love, winter after winter, for many years. Of course, my experience with this company is limited but more expansive than the norm, I believe. If you had to survive over our 4-month frigid winters, you might decide to invest in an array of warm hats, as we did. To conclude, on my own experience, ZAVELIO shealing hats are outstanding value items in their price range

I bought this hat for myself last year and have loved the way it keeps my head warm in the coldest windiest weather New England can dish out. My husband borrowed it, and wanted one for himself. I have received my shearling aviator and absolutely love it: the construction is great, the fit is spot on and it is definitely the warmest hat i have ever had. I would also like to comment on the customer service which was outstanding: I needed a modification to the front flap in order to be able to attach a hat badge so that I could wear the hat at work and Zavelio not only made the modification (attached snaps instead of it being sewn) but was still able to get the hat to me within 5 days. I am extremely satisfied with the product and the service from Zavelio!

I’m happy with the speed with wifh it came, and I’m happy with the product. I’ve long put off getting one of these because I live on the west coast of Northern California, and it seemed like overkill to wear one, but the last two winters have been really cold in the mornings, and sometimes off and on throughout the day. It’s my head (and left ear for some reason) that gets really cold, I didn’t want fake or synthetic material on my head, so after some research, decided to buy your product. The leather is beautifully soft and the hat is very warm. My hobby is wildlife and landscape photography. I needed a hat to keep me warm while I stand still in open, wind swept fields in temperatures of minus 10 F and below; this hat does the job well. It looks good too.

Lovely fleece, thick soft leather, excellent finish. The colour is as shown in the pics (although that might vary with different screens), a proper gingery peach, not beige. Obviously, it's seriously warm but, being sheepskin, not sweaty.
Tip: instead of fiddling with a bow, I put a loop at the end of one tie and two knots in the other, one at each end of the tie. The tighter version is for holding the flaps on top. The slightly longer version is enough for putting the flap round the back of the neck, with the neck lowered, to cover ears and neck (see pic.2 in most Aviator listings), or for strapping yourself fully in.
Another tip: there's no headband inside and I simply put in a length of adhesive surgical tape, which made it much less itchy over time (never serious but slightly annoying). Some thin leather would be even better.

Bought this for my boyfriend. Its very well made and warm. I can confirm that the hat does tend to twist around the head like some other reviewers have mentioned. I don't know why it does that, may be it rubs against the collar and twists, but that might annoy some people. However overall, for the price (got it on sale) its a really great value.

This is a beautiful, well made hat. With the bitter cold of January 2018 I have found this hat to be just what I need. It is remarkably light. I wear it hiking in the Smokey Mountains. Even when I work up a sweat this hat handles it with no problem. I would order a second one for when this one wears out, but with the fine workmanship, I know it will outlast me. Can you tell I love this hat?

Wanted a nice warm hat for winter. Looked at similar items from Canada that were going to cost £100 so looked at a law expensive option. Found this online so I ordered one. It arrived quicker than expected and the quality of the hat is great at less than half the price. This hat is perfect for those Minnesota Winters. It is toasty warm and oh so soft. The leather is so supple and conforms to my head nicely. My head size was right on the border of 2 sizes and I purchased the smaller one. The hat is a little tight but after wearing it a week it has stretched just enough. The next size up would have been too big. My only wish is the front flap was not sewn down and could be lowered to give more protection to my forehead on those really cold and windy days.

I am very picky when is about leather and material quality. This hat is amazing. Absolutely beautifully made, great soft leather, fur all over and inside, not only on the flaps . I received my hat today (shipping took longer than necessary due to weather - not fault of Zavelio).
I have a small head and after buying (and returning) a adult 'S', I reordered a children's 'XL'. It fits me perfect!!
I liked the first hat I got, which is why I took the chance and ordered another one. It seems well made, the leather is soft and I love that it has fur all the way inside. Most hats have a lining out of fabric instead of using the sterling. I will get a lot of use of it here in northern Idaho.
I take one star away because I, at two different times, contacted (emailed) Zavelio's customer service with questions - neither time did I get an answer.
However, I have been in contact with the company, both thru Amazon (where I bought the first hat) and when I replied to an emailed they sent me (when I had put a hat in my "cart" but not yet ordered). Those times I've been receiving great service and very fast answers - but fact remain that it is disappointing that this service didn't go as far as to answer when I emailed their customer service directly.
If you're thinking of ordering, I will say go ahead. You'll get a good quality hat and I think you'll be very pleased with it!

This is a nice hat. Well made and quite warm. I bought the wrong size. I figured I was screwed since the hat was bought in Turkey. I contacted them on their website using their chat function. They agreed to exchange with no hassle. They emailed me the return label and fedexed me a larger one. Just like that. I couldn't believe the ease with which the exchange worked. Great customer service.
Because the ear flaps are sewn inside, I would order one size larger than you normally wear.
But you can exchange with complete confidence. that is so important when you are dealing with an overseas vendor online. But I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. Id like to get a pair of their gloves, but my hands are too big for what they carry.
The hat is good value and this company has just outstanding customer service.

I've never had a hat like this before. Love the material! It really keeps your head warm as well as your ears with the generously sized foldable ear covers. I prefer to keep the snap button shut but when wearing this hat a bit deeper on my head or with the ear covers down it is kinda necessary to open it; not that the open model doesn't look good. The hat does get a little tighter with the ear covers down as they fold over the headband but other than that the hat fits snuggly and I did order it according to my size.

I have always liked these leather driving caps. I have had more than a few, but this one from Zavelio.com is far and away the best. It is beautifully crafted with the finest sheepskin fleece and leather. It is elegant, classy, and functional to boot! The ear flaps tuck away but come in very handy while pumping gas in a blizzard my part of the country is prone to. This is a Quality cap! I am very glad I got this cap, and you will be too!

I'm very pleased with this product. The workmanship is very high and will certainly last for many years. It keeps my head very warm in winter and gets compliments for its style. Zavelio gave me an extra discount off the already reduced sale price after a glitch with their payment software. My only complaint is this software which 1) wouldn't complete payment; and 2) kept sending me reminders to pay long after I had done so. That said, I won't hesitate to purchase from Zavelio again. Their sheepskin products are clearly top quality and affordable and customer service is excellent.

Pros:
You can definitely feel the quality as soon as you pick this bag up. Soft leather outside and smooth suede inside. The magnetic flap feels secure and there's plenty of organised storage space.
The strap is a great length. I'm 5'11 and still have plenty extra to adjust(about a foot and a half more if i needed to).
I ordered this bag on a Saturday and it was delivered the following Wednesday.
Almost cons:
Not sure about the measurements because the bag I received is more like 10X11x3.25in.
The phone pouch is only 3 inches deep so its too small for my phone but the 2 pockets just under the flap are the perfect phone size(about 4x5.5in)
Basically, this is now a favorite bag.

The bag itself seems of high quality. I do wish the shoulder strap would also be made of leather or have a shoulder pad to make carrying it more comfortable.
Additionally, customer service could be improved. I had to order the bag a second time after the company decided to cancel my first order. It took a long time to receive the bag despite paying for 2-3 day shipping.

The color in the advertisement picture is very dark brown and the product I received is actually more medium to dark brown. The fur is also black in the glove that I received. Be careful when matching with other brown leather coats and jackets. It so happened that I have an Allen Edmonds Cognac shearling coat that matched it although I had intended it for another darker brown Allen Edmonds jacket. It is of very high quality materials and is very well made. I would recommend this product.

These gloves are excellently made! Soft on the outside, warm on the inside. Two things: One is that the inside wool could be softer like the Ushanka hat and, two, the XXL size is really an XL size here in Canada as my hands are XL here.

The gloves are well constructed with excellent materials as advertised. The only thing is I did not the the opportunity to test it out in extreme New England winter yet. The gloves are made to a very high standard, the leather is very soft and supple and the fit is as described. My hand size was between medium to large so I chose medium for a more snug fit. The customer service throughout was very good, with good communication. I've used Zavelio twice, once for a trappers hat and now for these gloves,I would recommend their products on the grounds of excellent workmanship and quality,and great customer service at a fair and reasonable price.

The images of the glove on the website create a premium product expectation which the glove does not offer. The packaging of the product is premium, but the glove seems average, i was expecting a more premium fur, whereas the glove feels like it has fleece lining instead of fur.
The leather is good quality, but not as soft as you get in premium products, and the size definitely runs small.
I have 8.75 inch circumference hand, and the XL size is just about right. The stiching looks good, will have to see how it lasts.
Overall good product at the sale price, not worth the full price for sure.

I wear them when walking and jogging outside. My fingers used to feel like popsicles even after a long jog, but no more. With these mittens my fingers and hands are warm. These gloves run small. I am surprised on how tight they are on me as I ordered a men’s large. I had also expected the color of the gloves shown, but got a very dark brown. All the way from Turkey in about a week! Free shipping too! Very soft and light. Straight from the box, looks a bit unfinished so you have to brush it up a little with you hands and find the right folding depth. Normally size large, I read the reviews and ordered XL which proved to be a right decision. Fits snug but not tight. I like it. Finally I found something to wear with my favorite Canadian made heavy wool jacket.

I ordered this hat for my husband and realized that I had ordered the wrong size. Their shipping was so fantastic that by the time they got my e-mail about the wrong size-my hat had been shipped. They sent me a return label via e-mail for me to ship the wrong hat back. I dropped it off two days after I got the label and got the replacement hat the next day. I have a small head (55cm), this one you can adjust the size so it fits snug on your head and fits perfectly (it won't blow off on windy days without the ear flaps buckled user your chin). It'll keep you warm on days below freezing temperatures.

Well build hat, keeps warm during very cold weather.
There is a extra replaceable leather strap (with male buttons on its end) that goes under your chin to hold the ear flaps , which is a nice addition .
As the strap totally comes out, it’s hassel to carry it if one don’t want it sometimes, so It would be good if they add two female buttons on outside back of the hat to store this strap when not used.

It looks better in real life than on web site. Fur and leather is very soft. I ordered this one and a brown one. Both are prefect. Purchased this hat in XL for my 60 cm head size (23--1/4 in) and it fitted perfectly. Impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship. Perfect stitching all round. Nothing to criticize at all. It feels fabulous to wear and so very warm. Little unsure about cleaning though? So will have to read up on that. Oh and not forgetting delivery ie I live in the UK. I order hat on Tuesday 1pm. The company quickly sent me emails to track my shipment. it is shipped from Turkey. I couldn't believed it was delivered to my door at 11 am the next morning! There was a slight defect on one of the hats and Zavelio sent out a replacement right away which arrived in Canada on the third day. I pirchased the shearling peach & brown biker aviation hat as the picture matched my leather coat almost perfectly in the picture. What I received was a medium tan colored hat that did not match my leather coat. It came well packaged in a padded mailer and a nice clear inner bag with adhesive flap. Upon removal a stale smokey smell was observed on the hat itself. Also the ear flaps are too short to snap together under my chin. The ad never claims they will so that's ok. On the plus side the quality of workmanship and materials is top notch, and I like that it's a snugger fit without being loose and bulky. It is also very comfortable and breathes well. So I'm going to keep it and apply some kind of oil or coating to darken and protect the leather to make it perfect. That is after a light hand washing to remove the smoke smell and a thorough airing out. Overall a very good quality product you won't find anywhere else at this price.

It really keeps my head warm and stops my ears from getting cold. The fur looks really good with it. My head measures close to 23 cm and the large fits perfect, except the strap that connects the flaps was a little tight for me, even at the loosest setting. There was plenty of space to add a new hole though. Also sizing up might be okay since it has a strap in the back which can further tighten it, but I'm happy with the size I got.

this is the third hat that I bought from Zavelio. It was unfortunately delayed due to the Peach Brown pelts not being available. I received my sheepskin pilot winter fur hat the other day and I am extremely pleased with it. The quality is exceptional. If I could change anything it would be that the leather chin strap should be sewn down the sides instead of just rolled over and glued as I do not know how well this will hold up during a Canadian winter. The fur is soft and the leather very supple...it is a smart looking hat and I love the colour. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a quality sheepskin hat. Shipping was very quick.

I haven't wore this one outside yet but know that it will do an excellent job of keeping my whole head lovely and warm as it isn't too dissimilar to a black aviator version that I bought from Zavelio over 5 years ago that I have worn on countless occasions and still looks as good as new, it's definitely true that you get the quality that you pay for and in that respect I'd class them as bargains.

Fine quality and wool to boot! I would take wool insulation over any animal fur for warmth. It just does not get better. This is a fine quality hat too. I sized this hat one size up from what I measure because I wanted to be "snuggly". I also have another slightly different Ushanka hat from Zavelio sized correctly and it fits fine, but I wanted just a bit more air insulation under the wool. The other hat is my "going out" hat and this one will be my working farm hat. I highly recommend their Ushanka hats!

I have ordered two hats from zavelio the first one was the 5 panel sheepskin hat size XL and it fits me just right, so I ordered the sheepskin Russian Ushanka Fur Hat in the same size XL big mistake the ushanka was to big so check your sizing.

I’m very pleased with this hat, have had faux fur before but wanted a real one, and they delivered. Very soft sheepskin grayish brown leather and black fur look good. Have a large head, ordered XXL, fits with a little breathing room but would have preferred slightly larger. Otherwise great hat.

Michigan finally got cold enough to give my new hat a real test, and it passed with flying colors. This hat is really warm, without making me too hot while shoveling show and using a snowblower. At first, I was a little concerned about the gap between my cheeks and side flaps, but the hat is so warm, my face wasn't cold at all. This hat really does ship from Turkey, and the workmanship is excellent. I will definitely be purchasing from Zevelio again.

It’s size is a little big with flaps up but it is usual. The hat is amazingly designed and handcrafted very well, the leather is nice, thick and soft providing good instillation, padding and aesthetic. The fur is a true solid black color, it continues from the flaps all the way to the inside, keeping it very warm. It looks high quality and feels high quality. I made a mistake when I ordered by putting in my wrong zip code, I emailed them and they changed the zip code and responded in less than 5 minuets. The shipping time was only a few days which was incredible being it came from Turkey. I never write reviews but this experience was so enjoyable I wanted others to know. It’s so rare to find a ushanka that actually looks good.

I am so happy with Zavelio's ushanka hat! It has a distinct look that sets it apart from mainstream winter hats. Here in the Chicago, everyone is familiar with mad bomber style or trapper hat made with various materials . This is a beautifully constructed hat I bought to wear in the Southern Alps in New Zealand. Quality workmanship and very comfortable to wear. I ordered the XL size and it fits perfectly. Only took 3 days to arrive in New Zealand from Turkey.

I was a little a little nervous about putting an order on line, I don't usually buy on line. I did alot of research on a bomber type of hat. I learned about Zavelio hats on line and the uniqueness of the Russians ushanka hats. They are so much better than the regular bomber hats cause they cover more of your head. I wanted leather outside and fur inside not a quilted inside. The fit of the hat was perfect. I followed the guide and ordered one size larger and it worked. The shearling wool is soft and warm and after this freezing winter I can't wait till next year to put it to the ultimate test. The hat is warm and stylish. Shipping was included which swayed me to go with Zavelio. The only downside was the cost of the hat in US fund which when converted to Canadian dollars is quite a bit more. I will be buying another hat when the funds permit. I would recommend this product and this company.

This hat is a very well made winter hat that is VERY warm even in high wind below zero wind chill factors. I did not like the long leather tie cords on the side flaps so I folded the flaps back so that the front matched the hat seem that goes around the hat and while being pulled tight added a snap to each side creating a beautiful streamlined double thick set of ear muffs. It looks great this way and I'll wear my hat this way 99% of the time. Thank you for creating a great product and shipping was unbelievably fast. I'll be recommending both your company and this wonderfully warm hat !. Mike

Exterior leather is exceptional; soft for an instant fit and perfect for wind protection. The cap bill is small but large enough to shield sun and rain from glasses. Interior is thick and very warm.
According to charting, my size is medium.
After previous reviews stating hat runs small, I ordered a large which fits snug to my head. The fit is comfortable with my short, thin hair.
My husband usually wears small, tried on the large hat. The fit was snug on his balding head and he felt XL would be looser and more comfortable.
On my head, the ear flaps point too far forward and didn't keep my ears warm. If I tied the leather strap, it would be at or above my chin rather than below my chin. However, when the ear flaps are down, I was able to tie the strap behind my head which worked fine to keep ears, neck and head warm.

I’m very happy with this hat. It was posted very quickly by Zavelio (within hours of my order). The outer is buttery soft and very well stitched, the inside is soft and thick. Size is comfy and snug, and the style is really simple and appealing! There was a faint smell out of the package (which I think has to do specifically with the treatments that make the sheepskin uniformly black) but it dispersed quickly and a bit of sun got rid of it completely. I’d definitely recommend Zavelio to anyone who wants a sheepskin hat.

I bought these last year and lost them this spring and immediately ordered another pair. I have Raynaud's which causes the hands and feet to immediately become devoid of blood upon contact with cold or cold things. These gloves keep my hands from doing that. They arrived ahead of schedule, beautifully boxed, More important they looked very handsome and were keeping my hands warm even in very cold weather. The outside leather is really high quality, like it said "napa leather". Inside real fur. Mine is black color, not the brown color like shown in the picture. Very comfortable, keep my hands warm when I am outdoors in Michigan's winter. I got the size wrong on my first order and the return was very easy, and the second pair is a charm. Love it. By the way, wife and kid got other two pairs from other sellers, but the outer skin of their mittens were rough, not like this pair. This one is better, feels high end. Thank you.

The mittens seem to be of good quality. However, the insulation is not like on the picture. It ils more like fur dans sheep skin and it is black, not brown like the picture. For the price, I really hope the insulation is real sheep.

The quality of the sewing & the leather is great. Unfortunately the shearling on the right glove has a seam right across the palm which creates a "bald" strip. When the gloves are on, there is a noticeable difference in the shearling density. Heat is generated from your palm, so this "bare" spot is in the worst place. If both gloves were like the left one, I would rate them 5 stars!!!

I'm live in Ottawa, Canada. One of the coldest capital cities in the world. This hat is arguably the best commercially available toque out there. Quality and craftsmanship 10/10. Look, feel, and warmth cannot be beaten.
Fits true to size. I have an average head size and ordered a large. I measured and followed the sizing chart. If anything, the hat is slightly snug, but I like this as it is not uncomfortable.
My only suggestion for improvement: remove the buckle tine and shorten the strap length. The buckle tine is not needed in any way to synch the hat flaps closed. In fact, unless you are using one of the 4 pre-drilled holes on the strap, the tine gets in the way. There is enough friction from the buckle alone to fasten the strap. No dexterity required really.
I cut mine off with a pair of side cutters and then filed down the sharp edges. Now my hat closes with the full adjustment length of the strap, not just the 4 preset holes.
I would highly recommend this toque to anyone who endures Canadian-like winters.

The hat seems to be very warm which is why it was bought. The extra side flaps make the hat bulky and look awkward. Also the buckle is metal and requires dexterity to buckle.

Incredibly soft feel, should be quite warm when serious cold arrives. Only problem as another noted, strap needs another couple holes (should be easy to make myself) to fasten tighter. Definitely a keeper, along with the matching mittens-- good fit and feel too.

This is a super hat. I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderfully full quality of the fur and the soft hat itself. Nicely made. It fits me perfectly, I’m an average woman’s size, so I’m not sure if it would fit a large head. If in doubt I’d ask the seller about sizing, but it’s a really nice piece of workmanship and looks great on. Just what I wanted. Thanks.

These gloves are high quality and very warm, much more so than any other pair I own. I did have 2 disappointments preventing a 5 star rating. First, the image showed what looked like a solid pink color inside, but the gloves i received are an animal print, which i don't prefer. Second, i ordered xl as some leather gloves are too tight for me. I was careful to measure before selecting a size, and xl should have been perfect. They are a bit snug. Perhaps over time as the leather softens they will become a more perfect fit.

Where do I start? Loved the box. Beautiful paged.
Today it was 34° wore my gloves driving went to get take out. My right hand was warm...but the left hand next to the window my fingers were cold. Heater was on. They were not frozen or numb, but cold next to the outer closed window. Fits a bit snug.
What does this mean? Gloves?

This. Is the 2nd Zavelio hat in this style that I have ordered. The first was in black. I got it in a small after measuring my head. It turned out to be a little tight, and rode up on my head. I ordered the cognac color in medium and it’s just right, snug enough but not tight. Looks cute with the brim down or turned up in front., However, the white fur isn’t as thick as the black fur. That’s why I took off a star. Although it is “natural sheepskin “ it has been processed a lot, maybe spun, so it doesn’t have the curly appearance you might expect. Nonetheless it’s a cute, warm hat.

It was 30 degrees and sunny today, so I decided to use my new mittens. The leather is soft, with short straight sheep hairs. After 1 mile of walking I had to take them off because my hands were super warm. The fit was loose, but I like to put my thumb with my other fingers if it is super cold outside. So far I do like the mittens.
They were not what I was expecting. My old Sheepskin were from New Zealand. The leather was thick with soft very wavy wool fur inside. So if you are looking for those then the Turkish goats are not for you. However, it is nice with a softer, more moveable mitten. You might want to try them.

The mittens are beautiful but the women’s Large fits more like a Medium. I am waiting for a return notification so I can exchange them for a men’s Large.
Not warm enough for Minnesota

These mittens are beautifully made. I bought a pair in black. I tried them out on a 35 F. morning walk. They are not warm enough. They will definitely not be warm enough for a winter in MN when it can get to -20F or worse. The shearling is simply not thick enough by comparison to mitts that I once owned, which were made in Canada. Nonetheless, I will keep them to wear on casual errands.

These are beautiful gloves, but they seem to run a bit on the small side. We ordered the medium for my wife--we used the size chart and she is a small woman at 110 pounds. The medium was too small. We exchanged them for a large, which is still a bit snug, but should stretch out over time. The customer service was excellent throughout that process.

I have tried several sheepskin leather for mittens from well known brands. These by far are superior. They are luxury!! I have a larger hand so I bought the size large. They were perfect for a woman's hand.

Well made shearling sheepskin leather gloves. I should have order a size larger, but these will work. I used the measuring guide and I was right on the edge so ordered the size there. Would have liked a bit more room.
